Scope of application
The ISA bus ARCNET card SH ARC-ISA serves as connector to the ARCNET field bus in industrial PCs or main terminals. EMV design warrants the use also in rough industrial environment.
The card with its available drivers can be integrated into your application fast and cost-effective via the interfaces Coax and RS-485. Service LEDs let you monitor and diagnose the card in operation. SH ARC-ISA is an immediate alternative to any other SH product through its standardized driver interface.
The SH ARC-ISA can be used immediately with any other SH product via standardized driver interfaces.
Functionalities
The card shows the following features (depending on its version):
ARCNET controller
The card features an ARCNET controller COM20022 from SMC that is fully compatible with the COM20020. Supported are bit rates up to 10 Mbps as well as other additional adjustments.
ISA bus interface
The 16 bit ISA bus card allows the use of interrupts from 2 - 15. With that only 16 I/0 addresses will be occupied where the basis address is fully adjustable.
Field bus connection
At your choice you may use the Coax or RS-485 interface (both on board). With the respective equipment on board both interfaces can handle bit rates up to 10 Mbit/s. A protective logic protects the coax transceiver from being destroyed at small data rates or in the back plane mode.
Timer module (optional)
The 82C54 interval timer module from Intel offers three free programmable timers. They can be used for control and monitoring tasks. The module lets you, e. g., mark a received package with a real time mark.
