Scope of application
The SH ARC-PC104-HUB is an ARCNET hub for systems with PC/104 bus. You may select the interface modules as you wish. They are connected with the base card via a ribbon cable. The modules can be integrated in a PC/104 processor system at any place (either at the plug or with the help of two fastening angles).
The hub features 5 channels. You need one port for the COM20022 on-board for the connection to the PC/104 computer and use up to 4 interface modules for external connection. A service LED at the interface modules signals the receiving activity in operation. The design meets EMC standards suitable for use in rough industrial environments.
The SH ARC-PC104-HUB uses the same standardized driver interface as the other SOHARD ARCNET cards.
Functionality
The following components are on the card:
ARCNET controller
On the card is installed the ARCNET controller COM20022 from SMSC that is fully compatible with the COM20020. Supported are bit rates up to 10 Mbps as well as additional settings.
PC/104 Interface
The 16 bit card allows the use of interrupts from 2 to 15. That only occupies 8 I/O addresses with flexible basis address (compatible to SH FARC E3).
Hub function
It is implemented with the help of the hub chip TMC2005. 5 channels are available. One channel serves the ARCNET controller. 4 channels can be used as connectors for any interface modules. The bit rate may be set after reset or through a dip switch after switch on.
Field bus connections
All interface modules (please order separately) are connected to the PC/104 card via flat band cable. Currently available are LWL, Coax and RS-485 modules. Protective logic protects the coax transceiver of the interface module from being destroyed in operation by small data rates or in the back plane mode.
