About
Healthcare and pharmaceutics already have begun to embrace semantic technologies for integrating research and services with the goal to reap additional information from already existing data and knowledge.
With our research and development activities we aim at making semantic web technologies and tools available for applications in healthcare while meeting the regulative requirements.
We want to connect conventional RIS/HIS/PACS systems with semantic applications using standard protocols like DICOM, RDF, SPARQL, and OWL. A first result of these activities is SeDI, which connects a semantic application to a PACS. The unique approach of SeDI is to query the underlying databases with SPARQL, but without converting the data into RDF, so it does not require an additional triple store besides the original database.
